The agricultural sector is one of the most important in the world. It provides the world’s population with foodstuff.

Estimates show that the planet’s population will reach 10 billion by 2050.  It’s not going to be an easy task to provide quality food for this number of people and organize the logistics surrounding this.

Can we know what will happen with agricultural lands in 10 years? Will they still be as fertile given the effects of climate change?  Will we be able to cope with the new challenges? Will we be able to feed 10 billion people if we leave everything ‘as it is’ today? Will we have enough resources?

All of these questions require a complex approach. Let’s take a look at how the population has grown in the past, is now growing, and will grow in the future.

If the tempo does not change, the demand for food products will increase by approximately 60% (Source: United Nations, June, 2019). Considering the effectiveness of manufacturing processes, delivery and sales, what do we have as a result? Let’s take a look at the next diagram:

Product loss in the supple chain

As you can see, the effectiveness of supply is far from 100% on all continents. We can ponder the reasons behind this for ages.

COVID-19 has also changed this process.  The pandemic has shown the importance of having quality processes for storage and delivery. This sector is moving in the direction of automation and monitoring. It’s already clear that the demand for food products will grow, and this will lead to manufacturing growth, growth in logistic and storage costs.

Understanding the necessity of a complex solution for the automation and monitoring of all crucial processes, our company is making every effort to create such a solution. For the automation and monitoring of agricultural work we have carried out integration with ExactFarming, the market leaders in software development for agricultural needs.

Exactfarming is a platform of digital solutions for crop growing and carrying out concrete agricultural tasks.

Among such tasks is season planning and creating task sheets, calculating direct expenses per field and per hectare, comparing plans and results of field operations.  The integration of ExactFarming and Pilot allows the process of calculating field operations to be simplified. The main aims of integration are the allocation of tasks to machines, the automatic collection of data regarding the completion of operations and the ability to track the completion process. What’s more, the client does not have to create field maps or manuals twice once integration has occurred. They will synchronize automatically and the systems will be ready to work.

Having performed this integration, we can say with certainty that the solution completely covers planning processes and the processes of performing agricultural work. But that is not all. Our solutions provide automation of product delivery from the field to the warehouse and provide monitoring of product storage. They also allow all other logistics to be automated as effectively as possible. The subsystem of transport monitoring will offer monitoring of deliveries. Our Logistic-Navigator module will provide a completely automatic process for delivery planning, route creation and will monitor deliveries taking into account all criteria.

It is also crucial to cooperate with the user. Let’s take a look at the diagram below:

As you can see, the younger part of the population comprises the most active internet users for ordering food. This means that demand for this service will increase. The need for management systems for user orders is growing and this is where we are ready to offer a solution. Our module Electronic Dispatcher enables orders to be accepted, processed and also the entire business process, from the beginning to delivery to end user, to be tracked. The module will monitor the timeliness of order collection by the transport company or courier, provide information about the current status of the order and will monitor compliance with delivery conditions (time windows, temperature level etc.) in real time.
